Movement & Posture Classes
Movement and posture classes are for anyone wanting to reconnect with and restructure their body to better reflect and contain what is within. They are based on the Katonah Yoga® practice developed by Nevine Michaan, along with mind-body science, Hanna Somatics, and elements from Humanistic Psychology.
Classes focus on the pelvis-spine-foot dynamic and the profound effect misalignments can have on our experience. The changes are about function, mobility, and bringing the mind into the body. The goal is self-cultivation, by developing safety and dynamic stability, capacity and feeling more at home in our body.
When we re-constitute the structure of the explicit body and we pair that with internal self-search work, we can carry forward with new experiences with their new outcomes. The self emerges anew.

Katonah yoga is more of a theory overlayed on practical movements that we call yoga. It was developed by Nevine Michaan with Abbie Galvin over decades of exploration into bodies, life worlds, movement, breathing, and in general how to be a person in a body.
It is an esoteric system that draws more from Traditional Chinese Medicine frameworks than Patanjali yoga, however, there are still classic yoga references. It is very much modern postural yoga in that it uses traditional frameworks to improve health and well-being.
